What Design Is and Its Significance
A design is basically a description or a blueprint for the designing of an object, a process or the output of that description in the form of a model, appliance, machine or even the outcome of that description in the shape of a product, process or application. The verb to design normally denotes the act of designing. It also implies the intent of deriving a certain end through that process and therefore, it is an imperative that one should be guided accordingly. It is often necessary to determine the scope, meaning, scope and parameters of the design before it is undertaken. This is a process that requires the collaboration of the team members involved in formulating the design. Design is also used as a term in engineering where the word refers to the term used by the engineer in conjunction with a particular design.
Designers are involved in developing user interfaces, which are a means of representing data and information in such a way that the user does not have to memorize it. In other words, users are developed so that they do not have to have a programming knowledge in order to use programs, designs or interfaces. Designers are involved in the making things (things) user-centered. This simply means that they are involved in making things user-centered – in the sense that the tasks that users accomplish with the aid of the design process are made easy and pleasant to the end user.
Design is an important part of the field of engineering. This is because the design process involves taking into account many factors in determining the way things are done. Designers are involved in the rational model thinking, in visual modeling, in the generation of logical representations of systems and in problem solving. It also involves having to think carefully, act wisely and find solutions for problems. Designing is the way that reality is made ready for discovery; in short, it is a step taken forward toward realizing the ultimate purpose of engineering.
